Using CA Client Automation Remote Control Effective Settings

Issue/Introduction

Question: 

             In CA Client Automation how do you test what Permission a User has to Remote Control an Agent ?

 

Environment:  

              CA Client Automation -  All Versions

              Windows                  -  All versions

             

Answer:

              To test what Remote Control settings you have , you can use Effective Settings 

   1. )  Right-Click on the Agent you want to Test and Select:

          Remote Control > Effective Settings...

 This will open the Select User Screen

    2.)  Select from Available Directories which Directory your User name is in :

          For my Example

        ca.com           is my Active Directory Account(Domain Account)                              lamgo01-u134732 is my Domain Manager (Local Account)

        3.) Enter the name of the Account, you want to check the permissions for in the Names(multiple principals can be separated by a semicolon)

       

        4.) Next select Add to list  - this will fill in the List of Security principals field

 

         5.) Select OK

 

The next screen will either be  the Effective Remote Control Permissions Screen

which will show you the Effective permission that account has on the machine.

You will see an Error Message Screen which means you have No permission to that Agent.
