CA Network Flow Analysis (NetQos / NFA)

Issue/Introduction

Question:

We monitor all of the NFA services. Everyday just after midnight (5-15 minutes), we see the Watchdog service stop. It does restart. Is this something we should expect to happen?

Environment:

NFA Master Console

Answer:

Yes, this is normal. Check the Watchdoglog*.log file located in:

CA\NFA\REPORTER\Logs

Every night within a few minutes of Midnight, you'll see a message similar to the following:

0:04:18 3 - MainWatchdogThread: Restart WatchdogService.exe to release all resources

By design, the "NetQoS Reporter/Analyzer Watchdog" service restarts at Midnight. Also, the service can be manually restarted at any time without having any effect on data collection. This will force an SNMP repoll of all NFA machines and update the System Status screen in the NFA Web interface.
