CA Directory: Steps to reinstall DXadmind process on CA Directory host

Summary:

Sometimes to address connectivity problems between CA Directory host (where your DSAs are running) and DXmanager host (where DXwebserver is running) you will be asked to reinstall 'DXadmind' process. This process is a communication link between these two components - DXserver and DXwebserver.

This article describes the steps one needs to take in order to reinstall DXadmind process.

Instructions:

Find out what the exact service name that you want to reinstall. The default name is 'dxadmind' but it is possible that you might have renamed it according to your requirement. To find out the exact name, simply run 'dxadmind status' command at the system prompt.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The "trusted-host-name" mentioned below is the host name where DXwebserver is running. 

On Windows:

1. dxadmind stop  

2. dxadmind remove  

3. Delete (or backup) the %DXHOME%\config\dsaConfig.xml file 

4. dxadmind setup "trusted-host-name" 2123 "{dxadmind-password}" 

5. dxadmind install  

6. dxadmind start  

7. Also restart your DXwebserver Service.

 

On Linux/UNIX: (needs to be performed as 'dsa' user)

1. dxadmind stop  

2. dxadmind remove  

3. Delete (or backup) the $DXHOME/config/dsaConfig.xml file 

4. dxadmind setup "trusted-host-name" 2123 "{dxadmind-password}" 

5. dxadmind install  

6. dxadmind start  

7. Also restart your DXwebserver Service.
