Question:
Does Datacom cut SMF 89 records? If not, what record type should we be going after for Datacom usage?
Answer:
Datacom doesn't cut any SMF record.
Datacom can provide SMF statistics, but for DBUTLTY jobs only, not for MUF or for application jobs.
This is controlled by a parameter named SMFRTY in the Datacom Master List module, also called DBMSTLST. This parameter specifies the System Management Facilities (SMF) record type. When you specify a nonzero value, CA Datacom/DB writes SMF records for DBUTLTY only. Valid Entries for this parameter are 0 or an integer value from 128 through 255. The default value is 0, which indicates no SMF support.
Additional Information:
The SMF record formats for DBUTLTY are defined in Appendix A, SMF Record Formats (z/OS Only) of the Database and System Administration Guide manual.
