Issue/Introduction

Question:

Following an upgrade to SYSVIEW R14.1 the Select subcommand of the SYSVIEW VARS command only offers the ? as a subcommand and no longer recognizes the Select command.

In previous releases I viewed the MSU4HAVG or MSU4HPCT screens.  After installing R14.1 when you go to the menu selection and enter the "S" on the CMD line and get error message:

GSVX156E Invalid Line Command.

Environment:

z/OS

Answer:

The PLOT and SELECT line commands were removed from the VARS command when all the VARS command displays were combined into a single display.  This was due to inconsistent behavior across the variables on the VARS display as some needed additional parms/data that was not present on the VARS display.  While it is recommended issuing the PLOT from other commands, you can add the PLOT and SELECT line commands back to VARS by creating a user defined line command in your LINECMDS site library member by adding the following entries to restore the functionality you had prior to 14.1

VARS PLOT 1 CMD PLOT &F_OWNER &F_VARIABLE

VARS SELECT 1 CMD MOREINFO NOCLIST &F_OWNER &F_VARIABLE

It is suggested that changes be made in the SYSVIEW SITE.CNM4BPRM library to retain these changes as you upgrade from release to release.
