Unable to generate VMware Aria Suite LifeCycle log bundle through UI

Issue/Introduction

• To generate LCM log bundle through UI.

     Symptoms:

• Unable to generate VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (formerly VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager) log bundle through UI
• The request from UI is stuck with below error :

• The vmware_vrlcm.log is stuck with these entries :

INFO [http-nio-8080-exec-4] c.v.v.l.l.c.SettingsController - -- Dynamic Setting data required for setting : logbundledownload

INFO [http-nio-8080-exec-11] c.v.v.l.l.c.SettingsController - -- Dynamic Setting data required for setting : logbundledownload

INFO [http-nio-8080-exec-6] c.v.v.l.l.c.SettingsController - -- Dynamic Setting data required for setting : logbundledownload

Environment

• VMware vRealize/Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x

Cause

• The happens due to the wrong value in the table vm_lcops_settings table where logbundledownload record has a wrong value set to it, Instead of having a downloadUrl it has a request id set in it.

Resolution

• There is a workaround.

      Workaround:

• The workaround is set the donwload_url in the DB to "null" and then generate the log bundle.
• Steps:

• Take a snapshot of LCM appliance.
• SSH to the LCM as root and connect to its DB:

/opt/vmware/vpostgres/11/bin/psql -U postgres -d vrlcm

• Execute the below query to remove existing value from DB:

update vm_lcops_settings set value = '' where name = 'logbundledownload';

• Restart LCM appliance service:

systemctl restart vrlcm-server

• Login into the UI
• Generate Log Bundle again from UI.
