Login from VMware Identity Manager fails with error "Failed to log in with VMware Identity Manager service" for VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Login from web app on VIDM fails with error "Failed to log in with VMware Identity Manager service" due to invalid redirect URL for VMware Aria Operations (formerly VMware vRealize Operations Manager)

 

 

Cause

• This happens if the redirect url for the web app on VIDM is not set correctly.

Resolution

• The resolution is to map the correct redirect URL on VIDM for the vRops app.
• Steps:

1. Login to the VIDM using the local admin.
2. Select Administration Console.

3. Select Catalog --> Web Apps --> Select vRops app --> Edit

4. Provide the correct redirect URL for the vRops UI (LB URL if the vRops is using load balancer):

5. Save.

 

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

• Automatic login via VIDM will fail.
