How does UMP detect what language to use?

Issue/Introduction

UMP Language settings

During installation, we set Liferay's default language based on the system, e.g., if your system is Swiss German, hence the default user's language would be German.

You can change the configuration in Control Panel later. Each user can change his or her account whenever they want to as well.

UMP defaults to using the default portal setting from UMP's Control Panel, regardless of browser setting. UMP's system-wide default Language setting can be found at:

Control Panel->Portal Settings->Display Settings->Available Languages.

The 'Default Language' setting will be used for NEW users. Note that users include any new 'Nimsoft users' or 'Account-Contacts', i.e., any new UMP user.

UMP version 7.5 or higher.

Resolution

To change the default language for the logged in user:

- Log in to UMP (UIM Management Portal)

- Click on Goto : Control Panel ( a new page opens)

- Click on My Account : Display Settings

- Select the language from the drop down 

- Click on Save 

 

To change the default language for all users:

- Log in to UMP (UIM Management Portal)

- Click on Goto : Control Panel ( a new page opens)

- Click on Portal : Portal Settings : Display Settings

- Select the language from the drop down 

- Click on Save
