Setting VifId as MacAddr for vifs would results in CCP cluster service being DOWN

Issue/Introduction

• If the VifId is set same as one of the MAC address for vifs, this would results in id conflict resulting in CCP being down.
• NSX-T Controllers will be down and would not start.
• Following is the error message seen when we restart the service:
  • Failed to get version.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x

Cause

This is due to the ID conflict. The VIF ID should be unique in the whole NSX Domain, and should not conflict with any other object ID, such as UUID, IP, MAC, etc.

Resolution

The users must not use a MAC or IP address, or any existing IDs already used (ex. UUID) in VIF ID
