Issue/Introduction

Alarms are seen in NSX manager regarding the number of objects defined in the system for <components> has reached <number> which is above the maximum support count of <limit>.

A similar alarm as the following:

Environment

  • VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x
  • VMware NSX 4.x

Resolution

Workaround #1
  • Reduce the number of objects of the specified type.
    • This alarm is automatically resolved once the number of objects of the specified type defined decreases.
      • Navigate to the capacity page under the NSX overview UI of the respective feature (i.e. Networking, Security, Inventory and System) and review current usage versus known maximum value.
Workaround #2
  • Increase the size of the NSX Managers.
    • The alarm can also be resolved once the NSX Manager VMs are updated to a size that can handle more capacity.
A maintenance window is recommended for remediation. This change only applies to the management plane and thus will not have an impact on data plane activities.

If an alarm was raised for capacity exceeding maximum for "Total Gateway Firewall rules" in NSX-T 3.x or NSX 4.x please check this KB:
