Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on the fulfillment of vRealize Operations for Horizon, formerly known as vCenter Operations Manager for Horizon, for customers who have an active SnS contract for vRealize Operations for Horizon or Horizon Enterprise.

Environment

VMware vCenter Operations Manager (vApp) 5.7.x
VMware vCenter Operations Manager (vApp) 5.8.x

Resolution

For customers who have an active SnS contract for vRealize Operations for Horizon as a standalone product:

At General Availability, you are eligible to upgrade in Customer Connect to the 6.0 version of vRealize Operations for Horizon.

Starting with vRealize Operations for Horizon 6.0, you need two license keys to operate the product. One for the adaptor and another one for the manager. VMware will fulfill eligible customers with two license keys to activate version 6.0.

  1. When you are ready to upgrade to vRealize Operations for Horizon 6.0, one of these two licenses will be available for you to pull via upgrade license key functionality in Customer Connect. For more information, see How to upgrade license keys in Customer Connect (2006974). Through this process, you will receive the adaptor license key in the same quantity of vRealize Operations for Horizon concurrent connections for which you are licensed. This key will be located in the same folder you currently use to store your existing vRealize Operations for Horizon licenses key(s).
  2. The second license key to be used to license the manager will be delivered to a folder called ADJUSTMENTS under the Home folder in your account in Customer Connect. The manager license comes as a quantity of 1 per pack (regardless of how many concurrent connection licenses you currently own). You will see this alert in Customer Connect:

    Adjustment Fulfillment License Keys Available

The ADJUSTMENTS folder has the same access and permissions of the HOME folder. If you do not have access, contact your Super User to request for permissions. For more information, see How to request folder permissions in Customer Connect (2016605).

For example, if you are currently licensed for two 10-packs of vRealize Operations for Horizon concurrent connections, you will receive an adaptor license key for vRealize Operations for Horizon with a quantity of 20 concurrent connections. You will also get 2 manager license keys for vRealize Operations for Horizon with a quantity of 1 VM. The license keys with a quantity of 1 VM unlock the product and entitle you to all VMs used in the Horizon View environment.

Note: There may be a slight delay between the fulfillment of the adaptor key and the fulfillment of the manager key.

For customers who have an active SnS contract for Horizon Enterprise:

Horizon Enterprise customers with active SnS as of the General Availability of vRealize Operations for Horizon 6.0 are also eligible to upgrade to vRealize Operations for Horizon 6.0. Starting with vRealize Operations for Horizon 6.0, you will need two license keys to operate the product: one for the adaptor and one for the manager.

  1. You will need to use the Horizon Enterprise key to license the adaptor.

Note: You will not be able to upgrade the existing vRealize Operations for Horizon (or View) component license key in Customer Connect. There is no need to upgrade this license key as the Horizon Enterprise key activates the adaptor.

  2. The second license key to be used to license the manager will be delivered to a folder called ADJUSTMENTS in your account in Customer Connect.

For example, if you are currently licensed for two 100-packs of Horizon Enterprise concurrent users, you will get 2 manager license keys, each with a quantity of 1 VM. The license keys with a quantity of 1 VM unlock the product and entitle you to all VMs used in the Horizon View environment. You will not see a separate adaptor key as you will have to use the Horizon Enterprise key for that purpose.
