DEM Workers or Orchestrator changes between Offline and Online

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• DEM Workers and Orchestrator keep changing between Offline and Online.
• The Infrastructure tab shows:
  
  There is no Distribution Execution Manager (DEM) running as a Worker. Many actions such as provisioning a machine will not complete until a DEM-Worker is started.
   
• The DEM Worker Logs, located at C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\vCAC\Distributed Execution Manager\DEM\Logs and the monitoring logs found under Infrastructure > Monitoring > Logs, show the message:
  
  DEM Session ID mismatch - unregistering and re-registering DEM.

Environment

VMware vCloud Automation Center for Desktop 6.0.x
VMware vRealize Automation 7.3.x
VMware vCloud Automation Center for Server 6.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs if the SQL and IaaS servers do not have their time synchronized.

 

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure that the time on the SQL and all IaaS servers are synchronized with each other.
