Error "SSL Certificate add failed, Error: 183" while installing vRA

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• vRealize Automation (vRA) installation fails on Manager Service.
  
• Installation was performed with the same components previously and had to be reverted.
  
• Re-installation on the manager service server fails with the following error:
  
  SSL Certificate add failed, Error: 183
  Cannot create a file when that file already exists

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 7.3.x
VMware vRealize Automation 7.2.x
VMware vRealize Automation 7.1.x
VMware vRealize Automation 7.0.x

Cause

In the event of vRA installation failure we do not provide uninstallers that will revert the environment to a pre-install state;

The msi/wix uninstallers only revert the created binaries but do not modify custom activities like bindings, catalog types, solution clients, etc.

Resolution

To work around the issue:

Note: Take a snapshot or backup of your vRealize Automation (vRA) environment.

1. Log in to the failing server with administrative privileges.
2. Open up an administrative command prompt and run this command to remove the certificate mapping:
   
   netsh http delete sslcert ipport=0.0.0.0:443
