"The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized” error during AWS Data Collection

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• AWS Endpoint Data collection fails.
• In the DEM-Worker log section in vRA UI, you see the error message similar to:
  
  
  Workflow 'AmazonEC2EndpointDataCollection' failed with the following exception:
  AWS was not able to validate the provided access credentials
  Inner Exception: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 7.0.x
VMware vRealize Automation 7.2.x
VMware vRealize Automation 6.2.x
VMware vRealize Automation 7.1.x

Cause

This issue occurs if the time difference between IaaS server and API AWS endpoint is more than 5 minutes.

Resolution

To resolve the issue:

1. Update the time on IaaS server to sync with the time on the API AWS endpoint.
2. Restart DEM worker and DEM Orchestrator service.
