"vami.netmask0.vm-name. Network has no associated network protocol profile" when powering on the virtual machine

Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
- Powering on a standalone virtual machine fails.
- You see the error:
'vami.netmask0.vm-name'. Network 'Some_Network' has no associated network protocol profile
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1
VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
Cause
This issue occurs when a standalone virtual machine has the vApp options enabled but is not a member of a vApp.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, use one of these options:
- Create an IP pool at the data center level, assign it to a network and add the virtual machine to that network.
Or
- Disable the vApp options for the standalone virtual machine.
- To disable vApp options in the vSphere Client:
- Right-click the virtual machine and click Edit Settings.
- Click the Options tab and click vApp Options.
- Select Disable and click OK.
- To disable vApp options in the vSphere Web Client:
- Right-click the virtual machine and click Edit Settings.
- Click the vApp Options tab.
- Select Disable vApp options.
- Click OK.
