MCS Fails to Create Image Preparation VM, Error "Failed to Upload Disk. Errors:HCL-VMware: WebException in UploadFile"

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

In vCentre 5.5, Citrix XenDeskop 7.x version with Machine Creation Service (MCS) to provision VMs to user will no longer create machines. After initial snapshot and image copy it fails at the preparation VM with error: "Failed to Upload Disk. Errors:HCL-VMware: WebException in UploadFile"

 

Cause

This issue is caused when enableHttpDataStoreAccess was disabled in vCenter advanced settings.

Resolution

To resolve this issue check if there are special characters in data store or Data Center names, 

• Enable enableHttpDataStoreAccess in vCenter advanced settings.
