Booting into ESXi on Huwaei Host After Update/Upgrade Shows Error: "Configuration error while parsing /EFI/VMware/boot.cfg Fatal error: 15 (Not found)"

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• While booting ESXI in UEFI mode after update/upgrade on Huwaei Servers we encounter an error message : "Configuration error while parsing /EFI/VMware/boot.cfg Fatal error: 15 (Not found)".

Impact/Risks:

• ESXi will fail to boot when the server is set to boot in UEFI mode.

 

Environment

VMware ESXi

Cause

• The issue occurs when the ESXI is upgraded or updated to a newer version and the Huawei Hardware is set to boot in UEFI mode.

Resolution

Currently there is no resolution available.

Workaround:
Set the Huwaei server to boot in Legacy mode.
