Symptoms:

"An unexpected error has occurred" error is thrown in NCM 10.1.4 when "Attribute: IP Address, Operator: subnet (IP/CIDR) and Expression: x.x.x.x/x" is used in View filter in GUI.

Cause

Reported error with usage of filter combination of IP address, operator subnet(IP/CIDR) and expression during view creation has been considered as a legacy bug by VMware Smart Assurance NCM development team.

Resolution

Official fix for stated bug would be included in NCM next release i.e. 10.1.8, ETA for scheduled release yet to be confirmed on Feb 2022.

Workaround:
As a workaround, users can utilize filter of Management IP address along with operator subnet(IP/CIDR) and expression to create a view successfully in NCM 10.1.6, 10.1.4 and lower versions.
