Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Function snmpSet() doesn't throw expected error in NCM GUI when incorrect SNMPv3 credentials are used to configure device via custom quick command. Alternatively, snmpGet() function execution throws error when incorrect SNMPv3 credential is used to access values from the device:

"RTSNMPVar::getValue: SNMP-GET snmpv3:syntax(2):hostname(xx.xx.xx.xx):community(*****):snmpSecUserName(username):snmpSecLevel(1):snmpSecModel(3):snmpAuthProt(1):snmpPrivProt(1):.1.3.6.1.4.1.2052.2.26.2.0 method=3 SNMP: Variable does not exist (RTSNMPVar.cpp#127)"

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

VMware Smart Assurance NCM development team has identified the reported issue with snmpSet() behavior as a legacy bug.

Resolution

As of March 2022, this issue is identified as a bug and will be addressed in upcoming NCM 10.1.8 release.

Workaround:
For a workaround on NCM 10.1.4, file a Service Request with VMware Technical Support referencing this KB article.
