Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Users/User Groups imported to User Groups under Access control from vIDM Workspace ONE authentication source is not showing correct membership count in VMware Aria Operations.
  • If Users/User Groups is having n members on Active Directory, VMware Aria Operations will only show total members that has logged into VMware Aria Operations in past.
  • When user(s) login into Aria Operations using a authentication source from VIDM , the target user could get this error in the screen, the user doesn't have associated any roles or scopes.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations 8.x

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

This is as per design where vIDM user/user-group synchronization is not implemented as such as of its initial implementation and so far there was no requirement to add such synchronization.

Resolution

To verify which Users/User Groups are getting access to VMware Aria Operations through user group imported from vIDM, check the members of that group from Active Directory.

Ensure that each user and group(s) must have a unique account with one or more roles assigned to enforce role-based security when they use VMware Aria Operations.
