Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • When user has single quote (') in any of "managing_esxi_or_vc" or "vc_appliance" or "psc_appliance" password convergence fails with the error:
Running MonitorPSCDeployTask' execution failed because [Error occurred while doing converge operation!], possible resolution is []


Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.7.x
VMware vCenter Server 6.5.x

Cause

This issue occurs because tool does not accept single quote (') in any of managing_esxi_or_vc or vc_appliance or psc_appliance or "psc" password Convergence.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the password with signal quote (').

To change VC_Appliance password:
  1. Login to https://<VC-APPLIANCE-IP>:5480 using roots credentials.
  2. Go to Administration > Password > Change.
  3. Enter the <current password> and <new password> (should not contain single quote).
  4. Click Save.
To change PSC_Appliance password:
  1. Login to https://<PSC-APPLIANCE-IP>:5480 using roots credentials.
  2. Go to Administration > Password > Change.
  3. Enter the <current password> and <new password> (should not contain single quote).
  4. Click Save.

To change Managing_VC password:
  1. Login to https://<VC-APPLIANCE-IP>:5480 using roots credentials.
  2. Go to Administration > Password > Change
  3. Enter the <current password> and <new password> (should not contain single quote)
  4. Click Save.
To change the psc password:
  1. Login to https://<PSC-APPLIANCE-IP/FQDN> vCenter Server Web Client using administrator credentials.
  2. Go to Administration > Single Sign On > User and Groups : Select Domain.
  3. Select Administrator.
  4. Click Edit and enter the <current password> and <new password> (should not contain single quote).
  5. Click Save.
