Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • When upgrading vCenter from 7.x to 8.x in an 5.0 VCF environment.
  • Post providing the Temporary Network details on the GUI the upgrade never initiates.
  • No task is generated in SDDC UI. 
  • Following error is presented:

    Scheduling immediate update of bundle failed. Http failure response for https://<vCenterAddress>/ui/api/v1/upgrades: 400 Bad Request

 

  • A similar error can be found in the lcm-debug.log

Environment

VMware Cloud foundation 5.x

Cause

  • The upgrade is cancelled by the system because it failed on the pre-validation stage after checking the temporary IP

Resolution

  • Verify the Temporary Network details
  • Check if the temporary IP and Gateway are on the same subnet as the vCenter.
  • NOTE: No DNS record needed for the temporary IP
