VMware vCenter Update Manager 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Update Manager 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Update Manager 5.5.x
VMware vCenter Update Manager 4.0.x

Cause

This issue may occur when the %TEMP% and %TMP% environment variables have a space in the path.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, set the system %TEMP% and %TMP% environment variables to a path that contains no spaces and restart the Update Manager install wizard.
To check and modify the path:
  1. Right-click My Computer and click Properties.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Environment Variables.
  4. Verify and ensure that the path string for Path, TEMP, and TMP variables do not have spaces.

Note: You may have to log in again for the settings to take effect.

Alternatively, to resolve this issue, clear the contents of the %TEMP% folder for the user performing the installation and then restart the system and retry the installation.
