Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Cannot provision the vCloud Director (vCD) vApps from vRealize Automation (formerly known as vCloud Automation Center)
  • Provisioning of vCD vApps from the vRealize Automation fails
  • You see the error:

VCloud Customize VM failed for vApp: (vApp Name) Error when connecting disconnected networks of vApp (vApp Name) to Org network (Org Network Name). Inner Exception: Invalid network parameter: Unknown IP Addressing Mode.

Environment

VMware vCloud Automation Center for Desktop 5.2.x
VMware vCloud Automation Center for Server 5.2.x
VMware vCloud Automation Center for Desktop 6.0.x
VMware vCloud Automation Center for Server 6.0.x

Cause

This occurs when vRealize Automation (formerly known as vCloud Automation Center) is unable to determine the catalog vApp network.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, add the vApp to the Catalog.
To add the vApp to the Catalog:
  1. Deploy the vApp in to the Org in vCloud Director manually
  2. Connect the virtual machines inside the vApp to an existing Org Network
  3. Add the vApp back to the Catalog
  4. Run Inventory Data Collection in vRealize Automation (formerly known as vCloud Automation Center) against the vCloud Director endpoint and Compute Resource(s)
  5. Update the vCloud Director Component and vApp blueprint in vRealize Automation Center with the new vApp template.
  6. Request the vApp from the vCloud Automation
