Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Duplicate vCenter objetcs appear in vRealize Operations Manager after upgrading the vCenter.
  • Duplicate vCenter objetcs appear in vRealize Operations Manager after reinstalling the vCenter.


Environment

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.7.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.5.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.2.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.4.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.3.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.6.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.0.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.0.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.5.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.1.x

Cause

This issue occurs because upgrading or reinstalling a vCenter cause duplicate objects in vRealize Operations Manager 6.x as all objects under the vCenter has a new UUID associated to them.These duplicate objects do not have the historical data of the original objects.

Resolution

To avoid duplicate vCenter objects in vRealize Operations Manager 6.x, migrate the vCenter installation to a new server.
