Issue/Introduction

This article provides information about the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Logs\profiler-*.log file and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Logs\scoreboard-*.log file of the VirtualCenter Server.
Note: The Windows path for these files can also be %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Logs.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware VirtualCenter 2.5.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x

Resolution

These files are used with the VPX Operational Dashboard (VOD) and can be important in diagnosing VirtualCenter problems.
There are 4 files in total:
  • profiler-0.log
  • profiler-1.log
  • scoreboard-0.log
  • scoreboard-1.log
When an individual file reaches 200MB it rolls over to the next file. These files cannot be relocated to another directory.
The combined total size of these files never exceeds 800 MB.

Additional Information

You can access the VPX Operational Dashboard (VOD) via https://VC_hostname/vod/index.html.

Note: The full path to the vpxd.cfg file in Windows 2008 is %ALLUSERPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter.
