Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • VMware vShield/NSX Manager and all deployed Service Virtual Machines (SVM) are locked down with a restricted shell
  • There is no method to enter a root shell and to modify service configuration files

Environment

VMware vCloud Networking and Security 5.1.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.0.x
VMware vCloud Networking and Security 5.5.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.x

Cause

This issue occurs because the VMware vShield/NSX Manager, NSX Controllers and Edges are all secured virtual machines that are configured with a restricted shell by default.

Resolution

This is expected behavior for these products:
  • VMware vShield Manager
  • NSX Manager
  • NSX Controllers
  • VMware vShield and NSX Edges

Note: Modification of these virtual machines by any means other than the restricted shell impacts the supportability of the environment.

Additional Information

VMware vShield/NSX Manager 和所有已部署的服务虚拟机 (SVM) 都处于锁定状态且只能使用受限控制台
