Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
    • Attempting to add a PowerShell Host workflow in vRealize Orchestrator (formerly known as VMware vCenter Orchestrator) fails on Windows Server 2012 R2.
    • Running Windows PowerShell 4.0 with vRealize Orchestrator results in an error similar to:

      YYYY-MM-DD 14:38:08.516-0600 ERROR [PowerShellHostManager] send message on http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5985/wsman error , document in

    • When you attempt to add a Windows PowerShell 4.0 host, the Add a PowerShell Host workflow does not complete.


    Environment

    VMware vCenter Orchestrator 4.1.x
    VMware vCenter Orchestrator 4.2.x
    VMware vCenter Orchestrator 5.1.x
    VMware vCenter Orchestrator 4.0.x
    VMware vCenter Orchestrator 5.5.x

    Cause

    This issue occurs because Windows PowerShell 4.0 is not supported by the vRealize Orchestrator (formerly known as VMware vCenter Orchestrator) plug-in for Microsoft Windows PowerShell 1.0.3 or earlier.

    Resolution

    Upgrade to the vRealize Orchestrator (formerly known as VMware vCenter Orchestrator) plug-in for Microsoft Windows PowerShell 1.0.4 or later.
