Symptoms:

• La conexión al servidor remoto no es posible
• Al descargar e instalar del complemento de vCenter Update Manager, aparecen los siguientes mensajes:
  • Unable to connect to the remote server
  • Error connecting to the VMware vCenter Update manager
    Cannot communicate with the remote host, either due to network errors or because the host id not responding
    
    
• Los registros de vCenter Update Manager ( C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\Update Manager o C:\Users\All Users\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Logs\vmware-vum-server-log4cpp.log) contienen entradas similares a:
  
  error Failed to establish Vim connection to http://<IP address of VC>:80/. Vmacore::Exception: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
  
  
• Al descargar e instalar el complemento de vCenter Converter se informa el error:

Resolution

Asegúrese de tener conexión de red entre los sistemas vSphere Client, ESX/ESXi, vCenter Server y vCenter Update Manager/Converter.

Para asegurar la conexión de red:

1. Verifique que no existan cortafuegos que impidan la comunicación entre los sistemas. Consulte a su proveedor. Para obtener más información, consulte Required ports for configuring an external firewall to allow ESX/ESXi and vCenter Server traffic (1005189).
2. Verifique que no haya problemas de resolución de nombres (DNS). Para solucionar este problema, consulte Identificar problemas con la resolución de nombres en ESX/ESXi Server y configurarla (1003735).
3. Verifique que los clientes sean accesibles a través del navegador web en:
   • http://IP_address/vci/downloads/VMware-UMClient.exe(vCenter Server 2.5.x)
   • http://IP_address/vmc/VMware%20Converter%20Client.exe(vCenter Server 2.5.x y 4.x)
   • http://IP address:9084/vci/downloads/vmware-umclient.exe (vCenter Server 4.x y superiores)
     
     
4. Si cambió la dirección IP de vCenter Server con la que funciona su sistema Update Manager, consulte How to reconfigure vCenter Update Manager after a change of the vCenter Server IP Address (1014639).
5. De forma manual, instale los clientes y verifique que pueda accederse al servidor de vCenter Update Manager y que vCenter Converter funcione.
   1. EnvSphere Client, haga clic en Plugins.
   2. Haga clic en Manage Plugins. Se abrirá el cuadro de diálogo del administrador de complementos.
   3. Haga clic en la pestaña Available.
   4. Seleccione la descarga que desea instalar.
      

Si verificó todos los pasos mencionados con anterioridad, es posible que vCenter Server haya perdido el registro de los servidores de vCenter Update Manager y vCenter Converter. Realice una operación de Reparar/Instalar para vCenter Update Manager y vCenter Converter.
