Issue/Introduction

This article provides information to resolve the issue when Email notification is not sent after an alarm state returns to normal.

Symptoms:
  • Email notification are sent when an alarm for virtual machine CPU usage reaches a threshold (green to yellow, green to red), but email notification is not sent when it goes back to normal (red to green, yellow to green).
  • An email is not sent when a virtual machine CPU usage alarm returns to normal shortly after the alarm is triggered.

VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x

Resolution

The email notification is not sent if the alarms occur within the trigger frequency.

The default trigger frequency is 5 minutes. To resolve this issue, you can change the trigger frequency setting.
