Issue/Introduction

This article explains the steps required to generate reports in vCenter Application Discovery Manager.

Environment

VMware vCenter Application Discovery Manager 7.x
VMware vCenter Application Discovery Manager 5.x
VMware vCenter Application Discovery Manager 6.x

Resolution

VMware vCenter Application Discovery Manager (vADM) offers 4 types of reports:

• Inventory reports: Inventory reports show what hardware and software is installed, and the versions and dependencies related to your business application.
• Dependency reports: Dependency reports show what objects are dependent upon your hosts, services, and applications.
• Demand reports: Demand reports show use information for hosts.
• Configuration reports: Configuration reports show either hosts with few or no connections, or a list of alerts.

To generate a report:

1. Log in to the vADM Web Console.
2. Navigate to Reports and choose the type of report (Inventory, Dependency, Demand, or Configuration).
3. Select a sub report type from the Report Name dropdown.
4. Select the Group Type and Group Name on which you want to run the report.
5. Add the IP address range of the machines which you want to be included in the report.
6. Select a date range using the From Date and To Date options.
7. Click Submit.

After the report is generated, you can export and print it. The export choices are:

• Excel format: The report is downloaded as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
• Rich Text Format (RTF): The report is saved in RTF format, which can be opened in Microsoft Word.
• Portable Document Format (PDF): The report is saved in PDF format.
• Print: Opens the standard Print dialog box and allows you to print the report.
