Issue/Introduction
The Virtual Hardware version of a VMware Aria Operations node can be upgraded in order to comply with security standards, complete an upscale, etc.
Environment
VMware Aria Operations 8.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.x
Resolution
To upgrade the Virtual Hardware version of a VMware Aria Operations node, complete the following:
Log into the VMware Aria Operations Admin UI as admin.
Click the Take Cluster Offline button to take the cluster offline.
Enter a reason in the Take Cluster Offline dialog and click OK.
Log into the vSphere Web Client as an administrator.
Right-Click the VMware Aria Operations Primary node VM and click Power > Shutdown Guest OS.
Note: It is recommended to backup each node before proceeding.
Right-Click the Primary node VM and click Compatibility > Upgrade VM Compatibility.
Read the warning and click Yes.
In the Compatible with box, select the desired compatibility level and click OK.
Right-Click the Primary node and click Power > Power On.
Repeat steps 5-9 on all other VMware Aria Operations nodes.
Log into the VMware Aria Operations Admin UI as admin.
Click the Bring Cluster Online button to bring the cluster online.
Additional Information
Impact/Risks: It's recommended to take a backup of all vRealize Operations nodes once the cluster is offline, before proceeding with the Virtual Hardware Upgrade.
Ensure the Virtual Hardware version of each vRealize Operations node matches.
