Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• CIM related metrics are not present with the Management Pack for Storage Devices solution in vRealize Operations Manager 6.x and up

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.6.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.0.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.7.x

Cause

This occurs if SMART data collection via CIM API is disabled.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, enable SMART data collection via CIM API in the adapter instance.

1. Log into vRealize Operations Manager as an administrator.
2. Navigate to Administration > Solutions.
3. Select the Management Pack for Storage Devices solution and click Configure.
4. Select the Physical Storage Devices Adapter under Adapter Type, and select the desired adapter instance under Instance Name.
5. Expand Advanced Settings.
6. Set Enable SMART data collection via CIM API to true and click Save Settings.
7. Click OK on the Info window, and click Close.

CIM related metrics will start collecting within a few collection cycles.
