Issue/Introduction

This article provides the steps to license VMware Player and VMware Workstation 12.x/14.x/ 15.x Player

Environment

VMware Workstation Player 12.x (Windows)
VMware Workstation Player 14.x (Windows)
VMware Workstation Player 12.x (Linux)

Resolution

To license VMware Player/VMware Workstation Player:

1. Launch VMware Player/ VMware Workstation Player.
2. Navigate to Player > Help > Enter License Key.
    
3. Enter the serial number.
   
   The VMware Player/ VMware Workstation Player Activation Code is an alpha-numeric code.

• For VMware Player 6.x and 7.x, this code is 25 digits.
• For VMware Workstation Player 12.x, 14.x and 15.x, this code is 25 digits.

For example:

AALYG-20HVE-WHQ13-67MUP-XVMF3

1. Click OK.

You need not register license keys for the product.

• Product registration occurs automatically at the time of purchase for all VMware products. The license keys will be available in your Customer Connect account.
• If the licenses are purchased recently and you do not have them under your account please contact you SU/PC.

Note: You can, however, activate your VMware Player/ VMware Workstation Player software without registering the license keys. For more information about complimentary support, see Registering for complimentary support in Customer Connect (2016092).
