Issue/Introduction

After collecting Inventory data on some Linux servers, no values are returned for RAM (memory). In the Capacity Planner Data Manager, when you navigate to the system and expand the "memory" branch there is no value seen. Also if the text file generated by inventory is inspected, the <RAM> section does not appear in the file.

Environment

VMware Capacity Planner 2.8.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.7.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.5.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.6.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.1.x

Resolution

The memory vaules are not collected by the Inventory task when the values shown in dmidecode on the remote system are reported in megabytes (MB) instead of kilobytes (KB). This is due to a limitation with Capacity Planner.
