Inventory Collection appears to complete successfully but no data is recorded

When an inventory task is run it appears to succeed however no inventory data is recorded in the Data Manager. The task is marked as "success".

By default, the Collector attempts a WMI connection first. If no connection is accepted, WMI collection is skipped and the collector attempts to the registry method. However there is a condition where the WMI connection succeeds but the WMI collection process fails and yields no results. Despite this, the task is marked successful however no data is actually collected because the Collector never attempts to collect data using registry method.
To workaround this condition and collect the data:
  1. Open the Capacity Planner Data Manager.
  2. Click Admin > Options > Modules > Inventory. Select Only use registry.
    Note: Hard drive size data will not be collected.
  3. Click the Control tab. Select Inventory all systems.
  4. Run another inventory task on the server. Right-click the server and choose Tasks > Run Inventory Task.
If you have already run an initial Data Synchronization task you must now force a new export of the data for reprocessing:
  1. Click Admin > Options > Modules > Inventory > Export. Select Force full export of each system.
  2. Run a new data synchronization job to export the inventory data. Click Tasks > Run Manual Tasks > Run Data Synchronization task.
