Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

This error occurs on a minor upgrade of vCenter Server 6.0/6.5 U1 to U2 or U3.

In vminst.log file, you see entries similar to:

Resolution

To resolve the issue

Attach the ISO for the version of vCenter Server that is currently installed on the machine to the DVD drive.
Extract the vCenter Server ISO version to be upgraded to a folder on the vCenter machine.
Run the ISO installer.

Note: The upgrade should use the last used source and copy the needed packages to upgrade vCenter. If the LastUsedSource is pointing to the CD drive, then we need to copy the contents of ISO which we wanted to upgrade to local folder and mount the current ISO to the CD-ROM.
