Compatibility considerations
These products are not compatible with vSphere 6.5 at this time:
vRealize Infrastructure Navigator
Horizon Air Hybrid-Mode
vCloud Networking and Security
vRealize Hyperic
Environments with these products should not be upgraded to vSphere 6.5 at this time. This article and the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes will be updated when a compatible release is available.
To revert a Windows installed vCenter Server upgrade that contains these products, see the Roll Back a vCenter Server Instance on Windows When vCenter Server Upgrade Fails section in the vSphere Upgrade guide.
If the vSphere 5.x environment utilizes an embedded vRealize Orchestrator instance, its database will not be migrated. The existing vRealize Orchestrator database will need to be exported or export all workflows and configuration prior to upgrading to vSphere 6.5. For more information, see Export the Orchestrator Database.
Upgrade Considerations
For vCenter Server
Before upgrading your environment to vSphere 6.5, review these critical Knowledge Base articles to ensure a successful upgrade:
Notes:
vCenter Server 6.5 GA does not have a compatible NSX version at this time.
For vCenter Server migration to vCenter Server Appliance considerations
For upgrades that will be migrating Windows installed vCenter Server(s) and Platform Services Controller(s) to Appliances, see the Preparing for Migration section of the vSphere Upgrade guide.
After Windows installed vCenter Server(s) and Platform Services Controller(s) are upgraded to vSphere 6.5, they cannot be migrated to the Appliance.
