Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.x

Cause

This is not a storage connectivity issue but a notification from the storage.

HPE 3PAR VMware ESX/ESXi Implementation Guide, page 38, gives the detailed information about this message for out-of-space condition.

Warning limit reached a soft threshold error asc/q: 0x38/0x7 is sent and ESXI continue to write.

A hard permanent error asc/q: 0x27/0x7 is sent when the disk is out of space.  The ESXi responds by stunning the VM.

Resolution

Check the capacity usage and the limit setting from the storage side.

Consult with the storage vendor.
