Issue/Introduction

This article explains how to use the VMware Compatibility Guide, to find information on guest/host operating system compatibility and database and VMware product interoperability.
 
The online VMware Compatibility Guide replaces the old compatibility matrix PDF.

Resolution

To obtain information on supported operating systems for vSphere products:

  1. Go to the Host OS section of the VMware Compatibility Guide.
  2. Select the product you are interested in, such as vCenter Server.
  3. (Optional) Use the other fields to limit the results to those you are interested in.
  4. Click the blue Update and View Results button to see the compatible operating systems.

To obtain information on interoperability between VMware products with each other:

  1. Go to the Product Interoperability Matrix.
  2. Select Solution Interoperability.
  3. Select the product you wish to start with, such as VMware vCenter Server.
  4. Select the product you wish to learn about interoperability with, such as VMware vSphere Client.
  5. Click Add.

The results are displayed in a table.

To obtain information on interoperability between VMware products with each other, or database versions and vCenter Server:

  1. Go to the Product Interoperability Matrix.
  2. For interoperability between VMware products, select Solution/Database Interoperability.
  3. Select the product you wish to start with, such as VMware vCenter Server.
  4. Select the database type you wish to learn about interoperability with, such as IBM DB2 Express C.
  5. Click Add.

The results are displayed in a table.
