Issue/Introduction

Uninstalling the vSphere Client might leave old SSL certificate information in the registry. As a result, a new installation of the vSphere Client does not issue a security warning upon login for any certificates that were previously installed and ignored.

Environment

VMware ESXi 4.0.x Embedded
VMware ESXi 4.0.x Installable
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x
VMware ESX 4.0.x

Resolution

To empty the SSL certificate ignore list, delete all of the values under the following Windows registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VMware\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Preferences\UI\SSLIgnore

After you delete all values, the vSphere Client prompts again when a user tries to connect to a host that does not have a valid certificate.
