Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Capacity related dashboards do not reflect a recent change such as adding, deleting, or resizing an object.
  • Data on the Reclaim page is correct. (vRealize Operations Manager 6.7 or Later)

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.5.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.7.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.3.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.1.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.0.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.0.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.2.x

Cause

Cost calculations are not run on action, but are run once every 24 hours.
By default, the Cost calculations run at 9 PM; the start time for this calculation can be modified under Administration > Management > Global Settings.
Data in the Reclaim page is on a calculated runtime, where as reclaimable data in other areas, such as dashboards is bound to the capacity metrics, which run off the 24 hour calculation.

Resolution

Once the Cost Calculations run at their scheduled 24 hour cycle, all data will be updated with the must up to date information at the time of the calculation.

Workaround:
To workaround this delay, the reclaimable part of the Cost Calculations can be run on demand in vRealize Operations Manager 6.7 or Later.
  1. Log into the vRealize Operations Manager UI as admin.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Configuration > Cost Settings > Cost Calculation Status.
  3. Click Run.
Once the Cost Calculation is complete, all of the Reclaimable Capacity data will be up to date.
