Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Site Recovery Manager and vSphere Replication has One to Many site pair setup for example:
Site A <--> Site B <--> Site C
There is not site pairing between Site A and Site C and yet Site A or Site C will try and connect to lookup service of each other when the site pair page is opened:
  • Site Recovery Manager OR vSphere Replication tries to connect to lookupservice of a remote site to which it is not paired with or in enhanced vCenter linked mode

Environment

VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 8.x
VMware vSphere Replication 8.x

Cause

  • This is due to validation which takes place for local site pair information as well as remote site pair information and is by design currently

Resolution

  • Currently, this is an expected behavior of the product and a fix will be implemented in future releases of 8.2.x and 8.3.x where only local site pair information will be validated and not the remote site pair information.

Workaround:
  • You can open the required port (443) from SRM to remote site lookupservice which will be used for validation only OR choose to ignore the error as it does not cause any issues to paired setup.
