Windows hosts
To locate the Workstation serial number in the Windows registry:
Click Start > Run, type regedit, and press Enter.
Navigate to Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > VMware, Inc. > VMware Workstation > License.ws.x.x > Serial.
Note: For 64-bit versions of Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the serial number is located at Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > VMware, Inc. >VMware Workstation > License.ws.x.x > Serial.
Linux hosts
On Linux hosts, you can find the Workstation serial number in the /etc/vmware/license-ws-XX-XX-XXXXXX file in the your home directory.
