Error: "An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client" occurs while viewing properties of storage adapter in vSphere Client

Issue/Introduction

When using a Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) storage adapter, you experience these symptoms:

• When you right-click on a storage adapter and select Properties from the vSphere Clients, you see this error:
  
  An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client.
  Details: Object reference no set to an instance of an object.
  Contact VMware support if necessary.
   
• The Properties option is not accessible from the vSphere Web Client.

Environment

• VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5
• VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x
• VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
• VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5 and 6.0.

Currently, there is no resolution or workaround.
