Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • When configuring the vCenter adapter instance, under Advanced Options, and selecting True for Provide data to vSphere Predictive DRS, the following error is generated:
Failed to register or unregister predictive DRS. vCenter user does not have enough privileges to perform this operation.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.5.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.0.x

Cause

This error is generated when the service account used for the vCenter adapter does not have enough permissions to enable predictive DRS.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, ensure the Collection user has the following permissions:
External stats provider > Update
External stats provider > Register
External stats provider > Unregister

Once the role has been changed, attempt to save the adapter instance again. You should now be presented with the Info message of Adapter Instance successfully saved.
