Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • After installing Endpoint Operations Agent (EP Ops Agent/epops-agent), the Operating System objects are created.
  • After the agent registration, mapping the relationships of the epops-agent to the Operating System does not take place automatically in the UI.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.2.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.1.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the automatic mapping of the Endpoint Operations Agent to the Operating System is disabled in the effective policy.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the configuration option in effective policy to enable automatic mapping of EP Ops Agent to Operating System.

To change the configuration of the effective policy:

  1. Log in to VMware vSphere Operations Manager UI.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Policies > Under Policy Library select the effective policy.
  3. Edit the effective policy.
  4. Under Edit Monitoring Policy, double-click Collect Metrics and Properties.
  5. In the Attributes section for object of type Virtual Machine, filter by operations agent, and then set the current state to Inherited.

    For example:
    • Select vSphere Solution's Default Policy.
    • Adapter Type: vCenter Adapter
      Object Type: Virtual Machine
      State: Inherited [Local | Inherited]
