Resolution

In some cases, an Inventory job is successful but the Dashboard does not display some or all of the data. To correct a situation where Inventory job runs successfully but data is not displayed as expected, enable Full Force Export on the Collector and run a Data Synchronization Task.
To enable Full Force Export on the Collector:
  1. Verify that the data is present on the Collector:

    • Click Reports > Collector > Inventory Status.

  2. Force the Inventory to be exported to the Dashboard:

    1. Click Admin > Options > Modules.
    2. Click Inventory.
    3. Click the Export tab.
    4. Select Force Full Export.
To run a Data Synchronization Task:

Click Tasks>Manual Tasks>Run Data Synchronize Task.

Note: This exports the full Inventory and any changes to groupings to the Dashboard as a large CSV file. The processing at the Dashboard takes 6 to 12 hours to complete.

To verify that the Dashboard now displays all Inventory data:
  1. Log in to the Dashboard.
  2. Click Dashboards > Collection Dashboard > Inventory Uploads.

Note: If you see a file with a current time stamp (in the PST time zone) that is under 50Kb in size then the process has not worked. Repeat the above instructions and confirm that everything is configured correctly.
  3. Click Dashboards > Enterprise Dashboard.
  4. In the Server Count column, there should not</u> be an entry for No Inventory .
Warning: Only enable Full Force Export for this single Data Synchronization Task. After the correct Inventory data is verified, disable Full Force Export. If you do not disable Full Force Export, large CSV files are sent to the Dashboard on a regular basis. This excessive traffic results in your account's data processing permissions to be removed permanently until you contact VMware.
To disable Full Force Export:
  1. Click Admin>Options > Modules.
  2. Click Inventory.
  3. Click the Export tab.
  4. Select Automatic.
