How to disable VMware Snapshot provider in the Windows guest OS

Issue/Introduction

Disable the VMware Snapshot provide service in the Windows guest OS from the Service Manager.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5

Resolution

1. Login to the guest OS with administrator credentials
   
   
2. Click Start > Run.
   
   
3. Type services.msc
   
   
4. Press Enter.
   
   
5. From the list of services, right-click the VMware Snapshot Provider and select Properties.
   
   
6. In the Startup type dropdown menu, select Disabled.
