Issue/Introduction

Disable the VMware Snapshot provider service in the Windows guest OS from the Service Manager. - Windows Server (all versions)

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x
Windows Server 2025

Resolution

1. Login to the guest OS with administrator credentials
2. Click Start > Run.
3. Type services.msc
4. Press Enter.
5. From the list of services, right-click the VMware Snapshot Provider and select Properties.
6. In the Startup type dropdown menu, select Disabled.
